According to the Greek educational system, every primary school head teacher is responsible for the smooth operation, organization and management of the school and this renders them the education executives who are in charge of the administration of each school unit. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the duties that the primary school head teachers should undertake, in terms of organization and business management, observing their organizational and administrative work. For this reason, a presentation of the head teacher’s institution takes place, in accordance with the present laws and regulations, including what it is applicable nowadays and what has changed over the years since this institution was created. Consequently, analyzing the already mentioned institution and comparing it with a head teacher of the English educational system, there is an effort to collect data concerning the management of the school as managing an organization. In addition, this study, aiming to improve the effectiveness of a head teacher as far as issues of organization and administration are concerned, examines whether organization and business management principles could be applied to the daily school routine. In this particular study, taking into consideration head teacher’s responsibilities and business management principles as well, we conclude that although the head teachers lack adequate training in terms of organization and administration, functions of business management can be adapted and be applied from the head teachers, aimed a more effective school administration.el_GR
