| dc.description.abstract | Η βιβλιοθήκη σε ένα σύγχρονο σχολείο, με ανοικτούς ορίζοντες είναι η καρδιά του. Είναι ένα κατευθυντήριο πνευματικό κέντρο, το οποίο με το εύρος του υλικού και τις πολλαπλές δραστηριότητες που ο βιβλιοθηκονόμος έχει τη δυνατότητα να αναπτύξει, μπορεί να εμπεδώσει τη διδασκόμενη ύλη, να διευρύνει τους ορίζοντες των μαθητών, να ευκολύνει τους διδάσκοντες στο εκπαιδευτικό τους έργο και να δημιουργήσει τις βάσεις για την αναζήτηση του «νέου».
Η ιδιαίτερη σημασία που αποκτά η σχολική βιβλιοθήκη στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία οδήγησαν στην πραγματοποίηση της παρούσας έρευνας. Στόχοι της, να παρουσιάσει την υπάρχουσα κατάσταση στο χώρο των σχολικών βιβλιοθηκών της Κύπρου, να συνεισφέρει στο ρόλο που πρέπει να διαδραματίζει η σχολική βιβλιοθήκη σήμερα και να υποδείξει την αναγκαιότητα στελέχωσής της από επαγγελματίες βιβλιοθηκονόμους.
Αυτή η ερευνητική εργασία παρουσιάζει τα αποτελέσματα μιας ποιοτικής έρευνας που προσπαθεί να καταγράψει τις αντιλήψεις Λειτουργών Βιβλιοθηκονόμων, σχετικά με την οργάνωση και διοίκηση των σχολικών βιβλιοθηκών της Κύπρου. Ως μέθοδος συλλογής των δεδομένων χρησιμοποιήθηκε η ημιδομημένη συνέντευξη.
Όπως διαφαίνεται από τα συμπεράσματα της μελέτης, η σχολική βιβλιοθήκη πρέπει να συμμετέχει ενεργά σε οποιαδήποτε μακροχρόνια στρατηγική βελτίωσης της εκπαίδευσης, παροχής πληροφόρησης, οικονομικής, κοινωνικής και πολιτιστικής ανάπτυξης. Γι αυτό απαιτείται μια καλοστημένη συλλογή, κατάλληλες εγκαταστάσεις για ανάγνωση και μελέτη, πρόσβαση σε σχετικές τεχνολογίες, εξειδικευμένο προσωπικό καθώς και επαρκή χρηματοδότηση κυρίως από το κράτος . Ακόμη πέρα από το κράτος θα μπορούσε να συνεισφέρει και ένα ίδρυμα ή ένας ιδιώτης. Τέλος, για να εξασφαλιστεί ο συντονισμός των βιβλιοθηκών, πέρα από την υποστήριξη των τοπικών αρχών, πρέπει να υποστηρίζεται με ειδική νομοθεσία και πολιτικές. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The library of a contemporary school is its heart and soul. It is a guiding and spiritual center that supports the school syllabus, broadens the students’ learning, helps the teachers in their work and creates the basis for progressive and revolutionary beginnings. All of these are based on the libraries’ variety of materials and the multiple activities that the librarian will be able to develop.
The importance of the school library in the educational process led to the current research. This research intends to present the current state of the school libraries in Cyprus, to contribute to the role that a school library should have nowadays and to show the necessity of employing professional librarians at the school libraries.
This research project presents the results of a qualitative research that attempts to record the ideas of librarians with regards to the organization and management of the school libraries in Cyprus. The data collection was based on semi structured interviews.
Based on the results of this research the school library should participate in an active manner in any long term strategies of improving the educational standards, the education, the availability of information and the financial, social and cultural development. For these to happen it is essential to have a great selection of books, appropriate facilities for reading and studying, access to relative technologies, qualified staff as well as adequate financial help from the state. Apart from the state, both an institution or private organization may contribute to the funding. In addition to assure the coordination of all school libraries both the local authorities and the government through special laws and policies will have to be supportive. | el_GR |
