| dc.description.abstract | Στόχος της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής διατριβής είναι η εξερεύνηση και η ανάλυση του φαινομένου της ανάπτυξης των κρυπτονομισμάτων μέσω της μελέτης του Bitcoin που αποτελεί το σημείο αναφοράς στον κόσμο των κρυπτονομισμάτων από την ημέρα της ανακάλυψης του.
Για την επίτευξη του παραπάνω στόχου γίνεται μια αναδρομή στον ορισμό στην ιστορία και εξέλιξη του χρήματος. Ακολούθως γίνεται αναφορά στα κρυπτονομισματα και στην ιστορία των ψηφιακών νομισμάτων πριν από την εμφάνιση του Bitcoin. Εν συνεχεία γίνεται ανάλυσή στη δομή όσο και στον τρόπο λειτουργίας του Bitcoin. Επίσης παρουσιάζονται τα κυριότερα πλεονέκτημα και μειονεκτήματα του Bitcoin ενώ επιπλέον παρουσιάζονται και οι αντιδράσεις των κυβερνήσεων στο φαινόμενο των κρυπτονομισμάτων, ο ρόλος των κρυπτονομισματων στην παγκόσμια οικονομία καθώς και τα κρυπτονομισματα ως σύστημα συναλλαγών .
Η ερευνητική μεθοδολογία που χρησιμοποιήθηκε για την εκπόνηση της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής διατριβής είναι η ανάλυσή πηγών και κειμένων.

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The aim of this thesis is to explore and analyse the phenomenon of cryptocurrency development through the case study of Bitcoin, which has been the benchmark in the world of cryptocurrencies since the day of its discovery.
To achieve the above objective, a review of the definition in the history and evolution of money is made. This is followed by a reference to cryptocurrencies and the history of digital currencies before the emergence of Bitcoin. Subsequently, the structure as well as the mode of operation of Bitcoin is analysed. Also presented are the main advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin and also the reactions of governments to the phenomenon of cryptocurrencies, the role of cryptocurrencies in the global economy and cryptocurrencies as a trading system.
The research methodology used for this thesis is the analysis of sources and texts.
