| dc.description.abstract | Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας ήταν να διερευνηθούν οι στάσεις των χρηστών και μη της λατινοελληνικής γραφής (γνωστής ως greeklish) σε Ελλάδα και Κύπρο. Τα greeklish αποτελούν έναν τρόπο γραφής της ελληνικής γλώσσας σε ρομανικό αλφάβητο, ο οποίος επινοήθηκε αρχικά για να διευκολύνει τις ανάγκες επικοινωνίας μεταξύ των χρηστών των τεχνολογικών μέσων. Στο πρώτο μέρος της εργασίας αυτής δίνονται κάποια εισαγωγικά στοιχεία για τα greeklish, ενώ περιγράφεται η χρήση τους σε ανεπίσημες περιστάσεις επικοινωνίας στο διαδίκτυο καθώς και η ποικιλομορφία που τα χαρακτηρίζει. Παρουσιάζονται επίσης προγενέστερες έρευνες για τα greeklish, ενώ περιγράφεται η χρήση τους και στο κυπριακό συγκείμενο. Έτσι, κατέστη ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον να μελετηθούν οι στάσεις απέναντι στα greeklish καθώς και οι χρήσεις τους στην Ελλάδα και στην Κύπρο και να συγκριθούν τα αποτελέσματα ανάμεσα στις δύο αυτές χώρες. Για τη διερεύνηση, λοιπόν, αυτού του θέματος, σχεδιάστηκε ερωτηματολόγιο, το οποίο μοιράστηκε σε 200 άτομα και στην Ελλάδα και στην Κύπρο. Ηλικιακά οι συμμετέχοντες ήταν 16 ετών και άνω. Κάποιοι συμμετέχοντες ήταν μαθητές, κάποιοι φοιτητές και κάποιοι άλλοι εργαζόμενοι. Τα αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι όλοι γνώριζαν το φαινόμενο των greeklish, ενώ από τους 200 οι 149 (75%) δήλωσαν ότι τα χρησιμοποιούν κυρίως στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης για λόγους επικοινωνίας. Έτσι, παρατηρείται μία ποικιλομορφία καθώς οι χρήστες αυτού του φαινομένου γράφουν με τον δικό τους τρόπο ο καθένας. Όσον αφορά τους λόγους που ωθούν τους συμμετέχοντες στη χρήση των greeklish, το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό αυτών (59%) δήλωσε ότι τα χρησιμοποιεί για να αποφευχθούν τυχόν ορθογραφικά λάθη. Οι περισσότεροι συμμετέχοντες της έρευνας δήλωσαν ότι θεωρούν πως η χρήση των greeklish επηρεάζει αρνητικά την ορθογραφία. Οι περισσότεροι φάνηκε ότι διασυνδέουν τη χρήση των greeklish με τους νέους (97%), ενώ η πλειοψηφία (79%) πιστεύει ότι το φαινόμενο αυτό έχει αυξητικές τάσεις. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of users and non-users of Romanized writing of Greek (known as greeklish) in Greece and Cyprus. Greeklish is a way of writing in Greek using the Roman script and was invented in order to facilitate the communication among users of technological means. In the first section of this study, some introductive characteristics of greeklish are presented along with the use of greeklish in informal contexts and its characteristic variability. Previous studies on greeklish are also presented as well as its use in the Cypriot context. On the basis of the above, it became interesting to analyze the attitudes towards greeklish as well as its use in Greece and Cyprus and to compare the results between the two countries. For the investigation of this topic, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to 200 participants in Greece and Cyprus. Regarding age, the participants were of 16 years and over. The participants were people in their studies (high school and university students) or in work. The results showed that all participants were aware of the phenomenon of greeklish, while 149 out of 200 (75%) reported that they use it mainly in social media for communication purposes. Thus, there is variability in the way individuals use greeklish, as greeklish users write in their own way. Regarding the reasons that drive participants to use greeklish, the majority (59%) reported that they use it to avoid spelling mistakes. Most of the participants stated that they consider that the use of greeklish negatively affects spelling. Most participants appeared to associate the use of greeklish with mainly young people (97%), while the majority (79%) believe that the phenomenon has increasing tendencies. | el_GR |
