| dc.description.abstract | Στη παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή διατριβή, παρουσιάζεται ο τρόπος με το οποίο η βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο του ακρωτήριου Θήρας, ιδιαίτερα τώρα που η οικονομική κρίση ταλανίζει την χώρα.
Η πρόταση της εφαρμογής γίνεται μέσα από μια σύντομη αναφορά στις αρχές της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης, τον ορισμό της πολιτιστικής κληρονομίας και τον δυναμικό ρόλο που κατέχει η τοπική κοινωνία στην όλη διαδικασία.
Παρουσιάζονται οι πιο σημαντικοί νόμοι και διεθνείς συμφωνίες που έχουν ψηφιστεί για την προστασία των μνημείων πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς, καθώς και οι τρόποι διαχείρισης αυτών. Παράλληλα, γίνεται ιστορική αναδρομή στη ιστορία της Θήρας και του Αρχαιολογικού χώρου Ακρωτήριου Σαντορίνης, μετά την ανακάλυψη του από τον Σπ. Μαρινάτο και την επίδραση που είχε αυτό στην τοπική οικονομία και ανάπτυξη .
Μέσω βιβλιογραφικών αναφορών αλλά κυρίως μέσω των συνεντεύξεων με το επιστημονικό προσωπικό του Ακρωτηρίου Σαντορίνης, αποτυπώνεται η παρούσα κατάσταση και τα προβλήματα που μεγαλώνουν, καθώς και οι δυνατότητες για την επίτευξη του στόχου της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης.

| dc.description.translatedabstract | In this paper Ι present how sustainable development can be applied in the archeological site of Thira’s Cape particularly now that the country is suffering from economic crisis.
The suggestion of application is achieved through a brief report of the principals of sustainable development, the definition of cultural heritage and the dynamic role of the local society in the procedure. The most important laws and international agreements that have been voted for the protection of the cultural heritage monuments are presented as well as their management.
At the same time, we present the history of Thira as well as the history of Santorini’s Cape archaeological site since its discovery from Sp. Marinatos and the effect of that at the local society and development.
Through bibliography referrals, but mostly through interviews of the archaeological site’s scientific staff, the current situation and the problems that grow are depicted as well as the capabilities of achieving the goal of sustainable development.
