| dc.description.abstract | Τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει δοθεί διεθνώς ιδιαίτερη βαρύτητα στη βελτίωση των ιστορικών κέντρων των πόλεων και στην αναβάθμιση των πρώην αστικών βιομηχανικών περιοχών. Οι αστικές αναπλαστικές παρεμβάσεις λειτουργούν ως μέσον για τη διατήρηση της ιστορικής συνέχειας των πόλεων και ως παράγοντας για την ενίσχυση της ιστορικής συνείδησης των πολιτών.
Στην Ελλάδα εφαρμόστηκε η πολιτική των αναπλάσεων για την προστασία και ανάδειξη κυρίως των ιστορικών κέντρων και μνημείων καθώς και ορισμένων αστικών περιοχών που εμφανίζουν συμπτώματα φυσικής και κοινωνικής παρακμής, ως συνέπεια του φαινομένου της αστικής αποβιομηχάνισης.
Μια τέτοια περίπτωση είναι η αθηναϊκή περιοχή Γκάζι, η οποία επιλέχτηκε ως θέμα της παρούσας διατριβής, με σκοπό την διερεύνηση της εξέλιξης του οικισμού μετά τις αναπλαστικές παρεμβάσεις από την πολιτεία, τη σημασία που είχε το εγχείρημα για τους κατοίκους της περιοχής και το αισθητικό αποτέλεσμα της παρέμβασης.
Η επίτευξη των στόχων της παρέμβασης στο Γκάζι εξετάζεται βάσει στοιχείων από τη βιβλιογραφία καθώς και στοιχείων που προκύπτουν από σχετική έρευνα πεδίου προκειμένου να ληφθεί υπ’ όψιν και η αντίληψη που έχει διαμορφωθεί μεταξύ των κατοίκων της περιοχής. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | Over the recent years, attention has been paid internationally to improving urban historical centers and regenerating former urban industrial areas. Urban reconstructive interventions serve as a means of preserving the historical continuity of cities and reinforcing the historical consciousness of citizens.
In Greece, the regenerating policy has been applied to protect and highlight mainly historic centers and monuments as well as, certain areas showing signs of natural and social decline as a result of the phenomenon of urban deindustrialization.
One such case is the Athenian neighborhood Gazi, which has been chosen as the subject of the present thesis, aiming at exploring the evolution of the settlement following the state’s regenerating interventions, the aesthetic effect of the intervention and what this project has meant for the citizens of Gazi.
The achievement of the objectives of the intervention in Gazi is examined on the basis of the existing literature as well as findings derived from relevant field research in order to take into consideration the residents’ perception. | el_GR |
