| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή διατριβή εξετάζει το θέμα της αυτοθυσίας της γυναίκας στην αρχαία ελληνική τραγωδία. Συγκεκριμένα, η εργασία μελετά τις περιπτώσεις αυτοθυσίας τεσσάρων χαρακτήρων, της Άλκηστης, της Μακαρίας, της Ιφιγένειας και της Πολυξένης, όπως παρουσιάζονται στις ευριπίδειες τραγωδίες Άλκηστις, Ηρακλείδες, Ιφιγένεια εν Αυλίδι, και Εκάβη αντίστοιχα. Η διερεύνηση των ιδεών, του λόγου και της δράσης των ηρωίδων οδηγούν σε συμπεράσματα που σχετίζονται με ευρύτερα ζητήματα αναπαράστασης του γυναικείου φύλου στην αρχαία τραγωδία και με την λειτουργία της γυναικείας μορφής μέσα στη δραματική ποίηση. Η παρούσα εργασία βασίστηκε στη χρήση πρωτογενών και δευτερογενών πηγών, δηλαδή στην ανάλυση και την ερμηνεία των τεσσάρων τραγωδιών από το πρωτότυπο και τη μελέτη σχετικής βιβλιογραφίας και αρθρογραφίας Ελλήνων και ξένων κριτικών, που διερευνούν την απεικόνιση του γυναικείου φύλου και τη σχέση του με το ανδρικό φύλο στην αρχαία ελληνική τραγωδία. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | This postgraduate study examines the subject of female self-sacrifice in the ancient Greek tragedy. Specifically, the study examines the cases of four-character self-sacrifice, Alkistis’, Makaria’s, Iphigenia’s and Polyxeni’s, as presented in the tragedies Alcestis, Herakleidae, Iphigeneia in Aulis, , and Hecuba. The exploration of the ideas, the discourse and the action of the heroines lead to conclusions relating to wider issues of representation of the female sex in ancient tragedy and to the operation of the female form in dramatic poetry. The present study was based on the use of primary and secondary sources, namely the analysis and interpretation of the four tragedies in the original language and the study of relevant scientific bibliography and articles by Greek and foreign critics dealing with issues concerning on the representation of the female sex and its relation to the male sex in the ancient Greek tragedy. | el_GR |
