| dc.description.abstract | Το γλωσσικό ζήτημα αποτελεί ένα σύνθετο κοινωνιογλωσσικό φαινόμενο που έχει προκαλέσει το ενδιαφέρον πολλών μελετητών, οι οποίοι, ωστόσο, έχουν κυρίως εξετάσει τη μία πλευρά, αυτή της δημοτικής. Θεωρώντας ότι χωρίς τη διερεύνηση του έτερου πόλου, της καθαρεύουσας, είναι αδύνατη η πλήρης και ουσιαστική κάλυψη της γλωσσικής διαμάχης, η παρούσα διατριβή ασχολείται με το φαινόμενο της καθαρεύουσας και τα έργα και τις απόψεις του ενός βασικού της εκπροσώπου, του Παναγιώτη Κοδρικά. Η εργασία μελετά και περιγράφει τη γλώσσα του Κοδρικά και αποπειράται να περιγράψει τις προθέσεις και τις γλωσσικές επιλογές του, με βάση δύο σημαντικά αλλά και διαφορετικά μεταξύ τους κείμενα, ένα επιστημονικό και ένα αυτοβιογραφικό. Επιπλέον, καταγράφει τις απόψεις του ως βασικού ιδεολογικού φορέα της αρχαΐζουσας, ενταγμένες στο ιδεολογικό πλαίσιο της εποχής του και της πλευράς που αντιπροσωπεύει. Η τελική αποτίμηση του έργου και της γλώσσας του συνδέεται με γενικότερα συμπεράσματα για το τι είναι η καθαρεύουσα και τι υπήρξε για την ελληνική πνευματική ζωή για περισσότερο από δύο αιώνες. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The linguistic subject of debate is a complex sociolinguistic phenomenon that has aroused the interest of numerous scholars, who have studied only one aspect of the subject though – the demotic. Considering that lacking the investigation of the other aspect, the katharevousa, the full and essential coverage of the debate remains impossible, the current thesis addresses the phenomenon of the katharevousa, as well as the works and opinions of its major exponent, Panagiotis Kodrikas. The thesis studies and describes Kodrikas' language and attempts to lay out his intentions and linguistic choices, based in two significant albeit different texts, one being scientific and the other autobiographical. What is more, it presents his views as part of the ideological frame of his era and the side he stood for, since he was the main ideological representative of the archaic form of language. The final evaluation of his work and his language is to be associated with some broader conclusions as to what the katharevousa is or has been for the Greek intellectual life for more than two centuries. | el_GR |
