| dc.description.abstract | Αυτή η μελέτη πραγματεύεται τις αιτίες, την τυπολογία, την ταξινόμηση της αστυνομικής διαφθοράς, καθώς και διάφορους μηχανισμούς αντιμετώπισης του φαινομένου, μέσω της προληπτικής προσέγγισης. Αρχικά, καταγράφονται οι γενεσιουργοί παράγοντες, όπως αυτοί αναφέρονται στη σχετική βιβλιογραφία. Στη συνέχεια, αναλύονται οι τύποι και η ταξινόμηση της αστυνομικής διαφθοράς, στη βάση του μοντέλου της τριπλής τυπολογίας του Punch (2000). Ακολούθως, υποβάλλονται συγκεκριμένες εισηγήσεις για πρόληψη και καταστολή του φαινομένου μέσω στρατηγικών, οι οποίες εδράζονται στην προληπτική προσέγγιση. Μέσα σε αυτές τις προτάσεις περιλαμβάνονται εισηγήσεις σε σχέση με τα Συστήματα Έγκαιρης Προειδοποίησης, τη σύσταση και λειτουργία Γραφείων Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων, την Ακεραιότητα και τον έλεγχο αυτής. Με βάση τα ευρήματα της βιβλιογραφίας η οποία έχει μελετηθεί για τις ανάγκες εκπόνησης της παρούσας μελέτης, καταβάλλεται προσπάθεια υποβολής τεκμηριωμένων εισηγήσεων, οι οποίες θα μπορούσαν να υιοθετηθούν στην Αστυνομία Κύπρου για αντιμετώπιση της διαφθοράς. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | This dissertation investigates the causes and types of police corruption, their classification, as well as the various mechanisms that can be employed, through the adoption of a preventative approach, to deal with this problem. Firstly, an outline of the root causes of this phenomenon is presented through a review of the relevant literature. A discussion then follows of the various types of police corruption and the classification of the forms that it takes, as proposed by Punch (2000). Next, specific suggestions are made that aim at preventing and combating the phenomenon through strategies that are based on a preventative approach. These include proposals relating to the Control of Integrity, Early Warning Systems and the establishment and operation of Offices for Internal Affairs. Overall, on the basis of its findings and the literature examined, the study puts forward evidence-based suggestions that could be adopted by Cyprus Police to effectively deal with police corruption. | el_GR |
