| dc.description.abstract | Η επίτευξη της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης αποτελεί μια σημαντική πρόκληση για το
μέλλον της ανθρωπότητας και την προστασία των οικοσυστημάτων που
υποστηρίζουν κάθε μορφή ζωής στον πλανήτη μας. Η διαμόρφωση και συντήρηση
μια οικονομίας η οποία θα βασίζεται στην βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη είναι μονόδρομος,
καθώς η αυξανόμενη πίεση που ασκείται στους φυσικούς πόρους και γενικότερα
στο περιβάλλον οδηγεί σε καταστροφικά αποτελέσματα για τον πλανήτη και τους
κατοίκους του.
Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2015 τα Ηνωμένα Έθνη ενέκριναν ένα σύνολο Στόχων
Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης. Ανάμεσα στους στόχους αυτούς, οι οποίοι βασίζονται στους
προηγούμενους Αναπτυξιακούς Στόχους της Χιλιετίας (ΑΣΧ οι οποίοι είχαν ως
τελική ημερομηνία το 2015), συμπεριλαμβάνεται και ο Στόχος 14 που αφορά
αποκλειστικά τους ωκεανούς, τις θάλασσες και τους θαλάσσιους πόρους (SDG 14,
«Διατήρηση και βιώσιμη χρήση των ωκεανών, των θαλασσών και των θαλάσσιων
πόρων με στόχο την βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη»). Το γεγονός αποτελεί μια πολύ
σημαντική εξέλιξη για την προστασία και την διατήρηση των θαλασσών κι έγινε
ευρέως αποδεκτό από την διεθνή κοινότητα.
Στην παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή διατριβή γίνεται μια περιγραφή της έννοιας της
βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης και της αναγκαιότητας της στη σημερινή εποχή. Επίσης,
περιγράφεται το σημερινό πλαίσιο εντός του οποίου αντιμετωπίζεται, και
συγκεκριμένα γίνεται αναφορά στην Ατζέντα 2030 των Ηνωμένων Εθνών. Στην
συνέχεια γίνεται εστίαση στην βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη των θαλάσσιων πόρων και στον
τρόπο που μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί στην Κύπρο.
Στόχος της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής διατριβής είναι να εξετάσει την έννοια της
βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης καθώς και τους τρόπους με τους οποίους θα μπορούσε να
γίνει εφαρμογή μια προσέγγισης βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης όσον αφορά στους
θαλάσσιους πόρους της Κύπρου. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | Achieving sustainable development is a major challenge for the future of humanity
and the protection of ecosystems that support life on our planet. The formation and
maintenance of an economy that is based on sustainable development is the only
solution, as the growing pressure on natural resources and on the environment in
general leads to disastrous consequences for the planet and its inhabitants.
In September 2015 the UN summit approved a set of Sustainable Development
Goals. Among these goals, which are based on the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs’ final deadline in 2015), there is Goal 14, which is related to the oceans, seas
and marine resources (SDG 14, “Conservation and sustainable use of the oceans,
seas and marine resources for sustainable development”). This fact is a very
important development for the protection and conservation of the seas and
became widely accepted by the international community.
This thesis provides a description of the concept of sustainable development and
its necessity nowadays. In addition, the thesis presents a description of the current
context in which sustainable development is treated, with particular reference to
the 2030 Agenda which was adopted by the United Nations. In the following
sections, the thesis concentrates on sustainable development strategies regarding
marine resources and on the ways SD can be implemented in Cyprus.
The aim of this dissertation is to examine the concept of sustainable development
and the ways in which an approach of sustainable development can be
