The purpose of the present Dissertation is to examine and evaluate Business Incubators as a model promoting employment and entrepreneurship, focusing both on the European and on the Cypriot Economic framework. Business incubators are well developed, business promotion, instruments that have witnessed huge development the last decades. The implementation of the Business Incubators' model differs from continent to continent, from state to state, and from region to region. The goal of the dissertation is to research the model's implementation in Cyprus, to evaluate its outcomes and impact and to present recommendations for a successful incubation model in Cyprus. For the development of the dissertation the following methodology has been followed: A desk research was concluded, where the current situation, regarding employment and entrepreneurship, was examined and reported. Following the desk research, a qualitative field research has been concluded, while in parallel, a quantitative field research was conducted, using primary research questionnaires collected at an earlier stage, under a different background, but in the same theoretical framework. The research findings showed a problematic implementation of the Business Incubators creation Program, which was funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism. What the research showed is that, although Cyprus has the capacity and willingness to develop successful incubator/s, the implementation processes were not adequately elaborated. The desk research, as well as the qualitative research, findings pin-pointed all important aspects of a successful and sustainable Business Incubator's implementation, through which successful and sustainable incubatees will emerge as highly innovative and competitive companies. To sum up, Business Incubators are successful business models, as soon as they are properly implemented, taking into account the specific socia-economic, geographical and even political characteristics of the region, state and even continent, where it will launch its incubation services. A business incubator should not be considered as a monolithic business development model, rather than as a holistic community development instrument.el_GR
