| dc.description.abstract | Η τεχνολογία θεωρείται ένας από τους σημαντικότερους παράγοντες που έχουν αλλάξει την παγκόσμια βιομηχανία και συνεχίζει να μετατοπίζει τις συμβατικές εργασίες και τα κοινωνικά πρότυπα. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, η τεχνολογία έχει επεκταθεί σε παγκόσμιους τομείς και κλάδους με ένα πρωτοφανή ποσοστό που χρησιμεύει στο να αλλάξουν τον τρόπο εργασίας τους και την οργανωτική πρακτική. Παρόλα αυτά, φαίνεται ότι η ενσωμάτωση της τεχνολογίας στο πλαίσιο της παγκόσμιας βιομηχανίας ήταν συνεχής, αφού οι αλλαγές και οι εξελίξεις στην καθημερινότητα και πιο συγκεκριμένα στον τρόπο που ενσωματώνεται σε διάφορους οργανισμούς και φορείς μέσω του διαδικτύου και άλλων τεχνολογιών είναι ραγδαίες. Από αυτή την άποψη, η ενσωμάτωση της τεχνολογίας δεν ήταν τόσο ομαλή όσον αφορά τον τομέα της υγειονομικής περίθαλψης.
Οι τομείς της υγειονομικής περίθαλψης σε ανεπτυγμένες χώρες υφίστανται στην επίδραση διαφόρων προκλήσεων που σχετίζονται με την γήρανση του πληθυσμού, αυξάνοντας τους ασθενείς και μειώνοντας τους προϋπολογισμούς. Σύγκριση με άλλους τομείς, ο τομέας της υγειονομικής περίθαλψης προσανατολίστηκε στο να ενσωματώσει την τεχνολογία, έτσι ώστε να βελτιωθεί και να αναπτυχθεί, ωστόσο μια σειρά από προκλήσεις έχουν παρουσιαστεί , ιδίως όσον αφορά την εφαρμογή αυτών των πρακτικών, που ενδιαφέρουν. Η ηλεκτρονική υγεία και τα ζητήματα εφαρμογής της, τα οποία υποστηρίζουν το φαινόμενο, προσελκύουν, ένα σημαντικό ποσοστό της προσοχής την τελευταία δεκαετία και παραμένουν στο επίκεντρο αυτής της διατριβής. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, η παρούσα διατριβή αποσκοπεί να διερευνήσει και να αξιολογήσει τα πλεονεκτήματα και μειονεκτήματα τα οποία έχουν σχέση με την ηλεκτρονική υγεία και τις βασικές προκλήσεις που συνδέονται με την εφαρμογή αυτών των συστημάτων.
Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, στην παρούσα διατριβή γίνεται χρήση παραδειγμάτων και μοντέλων υποθέσεων τα οποία στηρίζονται στην διερμηνευτική φιλοσοφία και από την οποία θα αναλυθούν τα εφαρμοσμένα θέματα που παρατηρούνται και τα οποία έχουν ήδη αντιμετωπιστεί από χώρες, όπως η Γερμανία, το Χονγκ Κονγκ και οι Κάτω Χώρες. Ως εκ τούτου, η έρευνα αποκάλυψε τα τελευταία χρόνια, ότι τα θέματα εφαρμογής και οι προκλήσεις εστιάζονται λιγότερο στις υποδομές και με την τεχνολογία με σαφή μετακίνηση στις προκλήσεις που προέρχονται από τους ίδιους τους επαγγελματίες υγείας. Οι επαγγελματίες υγείας συνεχίζουν να αποτελούν ως εμπόδιο στην επιτυχή ανάπτυξη της ηλεκτρονικής υγείας, αφού αδυνατούν να κατανοήσουν τα αναμενόμενα οφέλη από την ανάγκη της εφαρμογής. Επομένως, οι συστάσεις βρίσκονται σε μια κεντρική προσέγγιση εφαρμογής, όπου οι ανησυχίες των επαγγελματιών υγείας έχουν πρωτίστως ενδιαφέρον και προσοχής. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | Information technology is attributed to being one of the foremost drivers of change within global industries and continues to shift conventional working and social paradigms. In this respect, information technology has proliferated into global sectors and industries at an unprecedented rate serving to alter working and organizational practices. Whilst it may be somewhat careless to espouse that the integration of technology within global industries has been somewhat seamless, one only has to look as far as the rapid changes and developments in our daily lives and more specifically the manner in which we engage in with organizations and institutions via the Internet and other technologies. In this respect one arena in which the integration of technology has not been so seamless is that of the healthcare sector.
Healthcare sectors across the developed world are facing growing challenges associated with an ageing population increased illnesses and a reduced budgets. As with other industries, the sector has looked towards the incorporation of technology to improve and speed up practices however in doing so, a number of challenges have been experienced, particularly as far as implementation of such practices are concerned. Electronic Health (e-health) and the implementation issues which underpin the phenomenon have therefore drawn a considerable amount of attention of the past decade and therefore remains the focus of this dissertation. In this respect, this dissertation looks to investigate and evaluate the benefits and drawbacks associated with e-health the key challenges associated with implementation of such systems.
In view of this, the dissertation makes use of a case study approach which in turn is founded upon an Interpretivist research philosophy from which to analyze and investigate the key implementation issues being faced by different countries such as the likes of Germany, Hong Kong and The Netherlands. As such, the investigation revealed that in recent years, implementation issues and challenges have moved away from more infrastructure and technology centric concerns to those brought about by healthcare professionals themselves. The latter continue to act as a barrier and inhibit the successful deployment of e-health due to a lack of perceived benefits and understanding into the need for e-health. The recommendations therefore centre in a more user centric implementation approach where the concerns of health care professionals are given foremost concern and attention.
