dc.description.abstractRisk analysis in healthcare involves consideration of the sources of risk, their consequences, and the likelihood that those consequences may occur, involving patients and their safety, healthcare personnel, and the hospital itself, in an effort to distinguish minor acceptable risks from the unacceptable major risks. The main purpose of this thesis is to identify the internal and external risk factors that might affect the planning, the effective implementation, the budgeting, the expected quality, and the long-term survival of the General Health System (GHS) of the Republic of Cyprus, and assess their impact. In this thesis along with the study of the healthcare environment in general; the case of implementing GHS will be studied and further analysed. The GHS is newly implemented and is the biggest step forward in the national healthcare system. It has provided access to doctors and medicines for all patients. With the digitalization of the healthcare system all patients and healthcare providers can have real time access to the patients’ data. The knowledge arising from this public project should be used in the future in similar projects and can be considered as the basis of a new study. This thesis will also attempt to provide information as for the risk factors that will affect the long-term survival of the General Healthcare System which can still be managed and mitigated. The data mainly will be extracted from available literature and also can be requested from governmental bodies such as the Ministry of health, private and public sector doctors, nurses, pharmacists, pharmaceutical companies, and patients via survey. The risk assessment technique to be used is based on the ICE 31010:2019, the 5*5, impact/ likelihood matrix.el_GR
