| dc.description.abstract | Στόχος της παρούσας διατριβής είναι η διερεύνηση των κοινωνικοπολιτικών γεγονότων που συνέβησαν κατά το δεύτερο μισό του 20ου αιώνα όπως ήταν ο Απελευθερωτικός Αγώνας του 1955-59, η Ανεξαρτησία της Κύπρου το 1960, οι Διακοινοτικές συγκρούσεις 1964 - 1967 και η Τουρκική Εισβολή του 1974 – και πώς αυτά τα γεγονότα επηρέασαν την πολιτιστική και θεατρική ανάπτυξη της Λεμεσού. Συγκεκριμένα εξετάζεται μέσα σε ένα θεωρητικό πλαίσιο το πολιτικό θέατρο ως παγκόσμιο φαινόμενο με παραδείγματα πολιτικών γεγονότων και θεατρικών δράσεων άλλων χωρών. Δίδονται ορισμοί που αφορούν τις έννοιες «έθνος» και «εθνικές ταυτότητες», οι οποίες βρίσκονται στη βάση των κοινωνικοπολιτικών τεκταινομένων στην Κύπρο. Καταγράφονται τα ιστορικά γεγονότα και εξετάζεται η σχέση τους στις ντόπιες διαμάχες, στα ζητήματα ταυτότητας και την επίδρασή τους στη θεατρική δράση της Λεμεσού. Αντλήθηκαν στοιχεία τόσο από δευτερογενείς πηγές, όπως οι βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές για την ιστορία του θεάτρου της Κύπρου όσο και από πρωτογενείς πηγές, όπως υλικό από εφημερίδες της εποχής, οι οποίες φυλάσσονται στο Ιστορικό Αρχείο της πόλης της Λεμεσού. Τα συμπεράσματα της έρευνας εξήχθησαν από τη μελέτη ιστορικών και θεατρικών γεγονότων με έμφαση στο ρεπερτόριο των επαγγελματικών και μη επαγγελματικών θεατρικών σκηνών της πόλης, ζητήματα στα οποία επικεντρώνεται η συγκεκριμένη διατριβή. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The aim of this dissertation is to shed light onto the sociopolitical events which took place in the middle of the 20th century between the 1950s and 1999 including the armed struggle of Cypriots against the British from 1955 to 1959, the proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960, the bi- communal conflicts during 1964 and 1967 and the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974- and how these events had an impact on the cultural and theatrical development of Cyprus. Furthermore, this dissertation examines the relationship between politics and theatre altogether, by examining the impact of politics on theatre in other countries. Subsequently, the focus is on the city of Limassol and on the connection between political developments - including the local debates concerning national identities as a major factor in the political scenery - and theatrical productions in amateur and professional theatre. Research data was extracted from history books regarding the island’s history and, more specifically, the history of the city of Limassol and from a thorough research in the Limassol Historical Archive. | el_GR |
