The birth of tragedy in the 5th century BC. was one of the most important achievements of Democratic Athens. Through myths, archetypes and symbols emerged that constituted patterns of consciousness that functioned as tools for the search for Being, for the promotion of universal values, but also as means for understanding the world. The myths of ancient poets have been revisited by writers and creators of later historical periods to the present day. Euripides' Trojans are a work that has been a point of reference since antiquity, where there is a hotbed of war with devastating consequences for people, homelands, values, and institutions. The aim of this dissertation is to examine the directing approach of Theodoros Terzopoulos in Euripides' Trojans, how he identifies the "I" before the "other", the question of the subject's identity, difference and therefore "otherness" in war and captivity. . It will be examined whether Terzopoulos perspective manages to present the Trojans in a different way from a classic/conventional performance. How does the director manage to highlight and illuminate timeless issues, such as that of freedom, captivity, immigration, the missing, but also the position of women in captivity. How can these issues be integrated into the problematic into the modern reality, thus making the work directly and realistically perceptible in the eyes of today's viewer?el_GR
