| dc.description.abstract | Η Αρχαία Ολυμπία αποτελεί ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά μνημεία της παγκόσμιας
πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της UNESCO και παράλληλα συνδέεται άμεσα με ένα γεγονός
παγκόσμιας σημασίας, τους ολυμπιακούς αγώνες. Οι ολυμπιακοί θεσμοί της τελετής αφής
και της εκεχειρίας, οι οποίοι συνδέονται με τη σημασία των αγώνων, αποτελούν στοιχεία
που μπορούν να προσδώσουν στην περιοχή σημαντική αναπτυξιακή ώθηση, μέσω του
πολιτιστικού τουρισμού, ο οποίος στη σύγχρονη εποχή ευνοείται από τις εναλλακτικές
μορφές τουρισμού. Η διεύρυνση της έννοιας του πολιτιστικού πόρου- πόρου κληρονομίας
και η καθιέρωση της έννοιας του πολιτισμικού τοπίου ως συνθετικού όρου που
συμπεριλαμβάνει απτά και άυλα πολιτιστικά στοιχεία, δίνουν τη δυνατότητα του
μετασχηματισμού αυτών των δύο θεσμών από το στάδιο του πολιτιστικού πόρου, σε αυτό
του πολιτιστικού προϊόντος. Όλα αυτά για να πραγματοποιηθούν με όρους αειφορίας,
επιβάλλουν την συμμετοχή των τοπικών φορέων σε δύο επίπεδα, στο σχεδιασμό και την
προώθηση των πολιτιστικών προϊόντων, καθώς και στην επικαρπία των ευεργετικών
αποτελεσμάτων που θα προκύψουν από την όποια ανάπτυξη προκύψει. Σε αυτό το
πλαίσιο, γίνεται καταγραφή αυτών των πολιτιστικών θεσμών ως πολιτιστικών οντοτήτων
και αναζητούνται τα στοιχεία που θα τους ταξινομήσουν στο πλαίσιο της πολιτιστικής
κληρονομιάς, ως πολιτιστικά αγαθά της περιοχής. Παράλληλα θα αναζητηθούν τα πεδία
προβολής που θα κάνουν αυτά τα αγαθά προσβάσιμα στη ζήτηση του πολιτιστικού
τουρισμού με τη τελική μορφή του πολιτιστικού προϊόντος. Όλα αυτά θα πρέπει να
συνδυαστούν με τις δυνατότητες του φυσικού και πολιτιστικού τοπίου της Αρχαίας
Ολυμπίας και να καταγραφούν οι παράγοντες που θα οδηγήσουν στη βιώσιμη τουριστική

| dc.description.translatedabstract | Ancient Olympia is one of the most important monuments of Unesco’s world cultural
heritage and is also closely related to an event of universal importance, the Olympic
Games. The Olympic institutions of the lighting ceremony of the Olympic flame and truce,
which are connected with the importance of the Olympic Games, consist elements which
can offer to the area significant growth impulse through cultural tourism, which,
especially nowadays, is favoured by the alternative forms of tourism. The broadening of
the concept of the cultural resource- heritage resource, as well as the establishment of the
concept of cultural landscape as a compound term which includes both tangible and
intangible cultural assets, provide us with the possibility to transform these two
institutions from cultural resources to cultural products. However, in order for all these
to take place under sustainable conditions, the participation of the local authorities is
required on two levels; the designing and promotion of the cultural products, as well as
the usufruct of the beneficial results which may derive from the potential development.
In the light of the above, a record of these cultural institutions as cultural entities takes
place and the factors which will classify them in a framework of cultural heritage as
cultural goods of the area are sought. At the same time, a search shall be attempted
regarding the viewing fields which will make these cultural goods accessible to the
demands of cultural tourism in the final form of the cultural product. All these should be
combined with the potential of the natural and cultural landscape of Ancient Olympia and
the factors which will lead to a sustainable tourist development of the area should be
