| dc.description.abstract | Σκοπός της μεταπτυχιακής αυτής διατριβής είναι να αναδείξει τον πολυδιάστατο ρόλο του θρήνου στους Πέρσες του Αισχύλου. Οι λειτουργίες του θρήνου μελετώνται σε επίπεδο αφηγηματικής δομής, ερμηνείας και συναισθηματικής εμπειρίας του ακροατηρίου. Μελετάται καταρχάς ο τρόπος με τον οποίο τα στοιχεία του θρήνου συμβάλλουν στην αφηγηματική δομή του έργου. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζονται οι διαφορετικές ερμηνείες του έργου, με στόχο τον εντοπισμό των διαφορετικών λειτουργιών του θρήνου σε κάθε μια από αυτές. Διερευνάται επιπλέον η συμβολή του θρήνου στην πρόκληση αισθημάτων ἐλέου και φόβου, όπως αυτά ορίζονται από τον Αριστοτέλη στην Ποιητική και τη Ρητορική. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The purpose of this postgraduate dissertation is to highlight the multidimensional role of lament in Aeschylus’ Persians. I have tried to describe the functions of lament at the level of narrative structure, interpretation and emotional experience of the audience. First, I study the way in which the elements of lament contribute to the narrative structure of the play. Furthermore, the different interpretations of the play are presented, with the aim of identifying the different functions of lament in each of them. Finally, I discuss the contribution of lament to the emotions of pity and fear, as defined by Aristotle in Poetics and Rhetoric. | el_GR |
