Αύρα Σιδηροπούλου είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια και Ακαδημαϊκή Υπεύθυνη στο Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα «Θεατρικές Σπουδές» του Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου, ενώ παράλληλα διευθύνει και την Καλλιτεχνική Ομάδα Persona. H έρευνά της επικεντρώνεται στη θεωρία της σύγχρονης θεατρικής πράξης, με έμφαση στη σκηνοθεσία. Άρθρα και επιστημονικές της μελέτες έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε έγκριτα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και συλλογικούς τόμους (Comparative Drama, Οxford Journals, Routledge, Methuen Bloomsbury, κ.α.). Έχει συγγράψει δύο (2) μονογραφίες: Directions for Directing: Theatre and Method (Routledge, 2018) και Authoring Performance: The Director in Contemporary Theatre (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011). Έχει επίσης επιμεληθεί και συν- επιμεληθεί δύο (2) διεθνείς συλλογικούς τόμους και αφιερώματα σε έγκριτα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά. Σκηνοθέτης η ίδια, έχει παρουσιάσει δουλειά της και έχει διοργανώσει θεατρικά εργαστήρια και ομιλίες σε Κύπρο, Ελλάδα, H.Π.Α., Τουρκία, Ιράν, Εσθονία, Λετονία, Μ. Βρετανία, Ιαπωνία, Ισπανία, Ιταλία, Λίβανο και Ισραήλ. Έχει υπάρξει επισκέπτρια ερευνήτρια στα πανεπιστήμια Columbia, Massachusetts Institute of Technology και CUNY-Martin E. Segal Theatre Center (ΗΠΑ), Freie University (Γερμανία), Queen Mary University, University of Surrey και University of Leeds (Μεγάλη Βρετανία), και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Τόκυο (Ιαπωνία) με υποτροφία της Japan Foundation. Ενδεικτικό καλλιτεχνικό έργο: σκηνοθεσία των έργων Ο Θείος Βάνιας του Anton Chekhov (Λευκωσία, 2023), Τroy Τοο της Karen Malpede στο HERE Arts Center (Νέα Υόρκη, 2023), Machinal της Sophie Treadwell για τον Θεατρικό Οργανισμό Κύπρου (2022) και Enter Hamlet (της ίδιας), κατόπιν πρόσκλησης, στο Verona Shakespeare Fringe Festival 2022. ΚΥΡΙΕΣ ΕΡΕΥΝΗΤΙΚΕΣ ΠΕΡΙΟΧΕΣ Σύγχρονη Παράσταση Θεωρία Σκηνοθεσίας και Υποκριτικής Σύγχρονα Σκηνικά Ρεύματα Σύγχρονη Δραματουργία SHORT VITA Dr. Sidiropoulou is Associate Professor and Academic Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in “Theatre Studies” at the Open University of Cyprus and Artistic Director of the Persona Theatre Company. Her research focuses on current theatre practice with emphasis in directing. Her work was published in leading international journals and by renowned publishing houses, such as Oxford Journals, Routledge, Methuen Bloomsbury, etc. She has published two monographs: Directions for Directing: Theatre and Method (Routledge, 2018) and Authoring Performance: The Director in Contemporary Theatre (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011), and had edited and co- edited two international collective volumes, as well as articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Sidiropoulou is also a stage director. She has presented her work and led practical workshops in Cyprus, Greece, USA, Turkey, Iran, Estonia, Latvia, UK, Japan, Lebanon, Spain, Israel. She has been a visiting scholar at Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, CUNY Martin E. Segal Theatre Center (USA) Freie University Berlin (Germany) and at Queen Mary University of London, University of Surrey and the University of Leeds in the UK. She was a Japan Foundation Research Fellow at Tokyo University (2015-2016). Recent creative projects: Dr. Sidiropoulou has directed Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov (Nicosia, 2023), Karen Malpede’s Troy Too at HERE Arts Center (New York, 2023), Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal at the Cyprus Theatre Organization (2022), and Enter Hamlet of the same author, upon invitation, at the Verona Shakespeare Fringe Festival 2022.
