Before joining OUC, he held posts and carried out research and teaching activities at the Universities of Reading (UK), Cagliari, Bologna, Milano-Bicocca (Italy). He has been research and teaching associate to CIHEAM-MAICH and consultant to UNEP PAP/RAC and UNIDO. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Geography/Landscape Ecology, an M.Sc. in Vegetation Ecology, a postgraduate diploma (PGCAP) in Academic Practice, and a B.Sc. in Forestry. He is a member of the following associations: Royal Geographic Society, British Ecological Society, International Association of Landscape Ecology, International Association of Vegetation Science and Ecosystem Services Partnership. His research interests include environmental changes in Mediterranean islands and mountains, predictive vegetation and habitat mapping, landscape based approach to nature conservation delivery, and the effectiveness of protected areas for biodiversity conservation. His research has been funded by the EU FP6, FP7, H2020, LIFE+, INTERREG,ENPI-CBCMED and Erasmus+ programmes, as well as several UK and Cyprus Government Agencies.
