He is also a Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics, IZA (Germany) and an External Affiliate at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, CIDE (Mexico). His research interests include the study of income mobility and income inequality over the course of economic growth. He also studies the functioning of labor markets in developing countries. In particular, he is interested in understanding the factors that lead to the existence of a large fraction of informal employment in these economies. Finally, he studies how labor policies and institutions affect the functioning of labor markets in both developed and developing countries.
