| dc.description.abstract | Γενικά, ο τουρισμός και ο ξενοδοχειακός κλάδος αποτελούν αέναο τροφοδότη της οικονομίας. Η επιτυχημένη πορεία των πρώτων, αποτελεί εκ των ων ουκ άνευ, για την ομαλή λειτουργία και διάνθηση της οικονομίας και αντίστροφα. Ως εκ τούτου, ένεκα και της σπουδαιότητάς τους, σε αρχικό στάδιο κρίνεται σκόπιμη η σφαιρική παρουσίαση των δύο κλάδων.
Ανέκαθεν, η οικονομία σημαδεύτηκε αρκετές φορές από απρόσμενα ή άλλοτε αναμενόμενα γεγονότα, όπως: η οικονομική κρίση, οι πολεμικές συρράξεις και αναταραχές, οι μολυσματικές ασθένειες και άλλα. Αναμφίβολα, τέτοια γεγονότα, αποτέλεσαν πολλές φορές αιτίες μελετών και άλλων ερευνών ως προς την επιρροή τους σε διάφορους κλάδους. Εντούτοις, λίγες οι μελέτες που εντοπίζονται και αφορούν στις επιπτώσεις τέτοιων γεγονότων και ειδικά της οικονομικής κρίσης, όσον αφορά τον τουρισμό και ιδιαίτερα τον ξενοδοχειακό κλάδο.
Υπό αυτές τις περιστάσεις, η παρούσα διατριβή στοχεύει μέσα από την εμπεριστατωμένη μελέτη ηγετικού εκπροσώπου του κυπριακού ξενοδοχειακού κλάδου, να αναλύσει σε δεκαετές επίπεδο, τις χρηματοοικονομικές καταστάσεις του ομίλου της “A. Tsokkos Hotels Plc Ltd”, επιχειρώντας να ξεδιπλώσει το αποτύπωμα τέτοιων ενδεχόμενων γεγονότων, ως διαφαίνεται στις βασικές οικονομικές καταστάσεις, του Ισολογισμού και της Κατάστασης Αποτελεσμάτων Χρήσεως. Παράλληλα, επιχειρεί να καθρεφτίσει, τις ενδεχόμενες σκέψεις και πληροφορίες που αντλούνται μέσα από την ανάλυση, από τη σκοπιά κάθε υποψήφιου ενδιαφερόμενου μέρους.
Δια τούτο, κρίθηκε ως κατάλληλη, η ποσοτική μεθοδολογία έρευνας, υπό τις συνθήκες της οριζόντιας και κάθετης ανάλυσης στοιχείων, καθώς και της χρήσης, ανάλυσης και ερμηνείας βασικών αριθμοδεικτών, σχετικά με τον Όμιλο, για την περίοδο 2009-2018.
Τα ουσιώδη συμπεράσματα της έρευνας, δεικνύουν σοβαρά προβλήματα ρευστότητας, αυξημένης δανειακής επιβάρυνσης και επιβαρυμένης αποδοτικότητας, ειδικά για τη περίοδο 2009-2015, με εξαίρεση το έτος 2013, στοιχεία που μαρτυρούν και καταδεικνύουν για τις επιπτώσεις επιβεβαιωμένων γεγονότων όπως, της οικονομικής κρίσης, έναντι του ξενοδοχειακού κλάδου. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | In general, tourism and the hotel industry are a perpetual feeder of the economy. The successful course of the former is, of course, for the smooth operation and prosperity of the economy and vice versa. Therefore, due to their importance, at an early stage, the global presentation of the two branches is essentially considered.
The economy has always been marked several times by unexpected or sometimes expected events, such as: the economic crisis, war and unrest, infectious diseases and many more. Undoubtedly, such events have often been the cause of studies and other researches have been conducted to identify their effects on various fields. However, only few studies are identified to illustrate the effects of such events and especially the economic crisis, in terms of tourism and more specifically the hotel sector.
Under these circumstances, the present dissertation will aim, through the in-depth study of a leading representative of the Cypriot hotel industry, to analyze on a ten-year level, the financial statements of the group of “A. Tsokkos Hotels Plc Ltd”, trying to unfold the impact of such possible events, as shown in the basic financial statements, the Balance Sheet, and the Income Statement. At the same time, it will attempt to reflect the possible thoughts and information extracted through the analysis, from the point of view of each candidate interested party.
For this reason, the quantitative research methodology was considered appropriate, under the conditions of horizontal and vertical data analysis, as well as the use, analysis, and interpretation of key indicators, related to the Group, for the period 2009-2018.
The essential conclusions of the research present the serious problems of liquidity, increased debts burden and burdened profitability, especially for the period 2009-2015, with the exception of the year 2013. This data testifies and demonstrates the effects of confirmed events such as the financial crisis in the hotel industry. | el_GR |
