Construction research has not paid much attention to project leadership. This is due to the traditional focus of researchers on technical and managerial features of construction. One of the biggest challenges the construction industry is currently facing is the lack of leaders in the field. Thus, the rapid development of the construction industry in many countries places new demands on leadership. This challenge requires a significant shift in perceptions of the importance of leadership in effective project delivery. The paper argues that authentic leadership and therefore authentic leaders are required by the construction industry.el_GR
