The subject of this master’s thesis is the study of the field and the possibilities of application of supply chain management within the Cypriot construction sector, and more specifically within an organization implementing electromechanical subcontracting projects. Initially the concepts of logistics and supply chain are developed and a historical review is made to highlight the importance of supply chain management in production units, while this is followed by an analysis of the current trends that guide management teams. Furthermore, the thesis provides an extensive overview of the information systems that can be utilized in a supply chain context for better financial results, reduced waste and improved responsiveness. Then the thesis analyzes the Cypriot construction sector and the field and conditions of the application of supply chain management is organizations that operate within it. The analysis of the construction industry highlights the shortcomings that the supply chain management will be called upon to improve, as well as the obstacles and difficulties that arise due to the nature of the industry. The analysis of a specific company highlights the shortcomings and weaknesses encountered in the subcontracting sector, such as opportunistic relationships with suppliers and cooperating subcontractors, the unsatisfactory flow and control of processes and materials along the supply chain and the absence of specialized information systems. Finally, conclusions are discussed followed by suggestions for improving quality, reducing costs, eliminating dead times and improving responsiveness to customer needs. el_GR
