| dc.description.abstract | Τα artist-run spaces αποτελούν σήμερα ένα αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι του πολιτιστικού τοπίου, τόσο διεθνώς όσο και στην Κύπρο. Τα τελευταία χρόνια παρατηρείται έντονα η άνθηση αρκετών ανεξάρτητων καλλιτεχνικών χώρων στη Λευκωσία. Με αφορμή το γεγονός αυτό η πτυχιακή διατριβή θα διερευνήσει ζητήματα, τα οποία δεν έχουν συζητηθεί στην ελληνόφωνη βιβλιογραφία, όπως η επίδραση των artist-run spaces στις κοινότητες και στους καλλιτέχνες.
Πιο συγκεκριμένα, θα ασχοληθεί με χώρους που δημιουργήθηκαν τα τελευταία χρόνια στην Κύπρο αλλά και παραδείγματα από την διεθνή εμπειρία. Αποσκοπεί στην εξέταση των πλεονεκτημάτων των οργανισμών αυτών, καθώς και άλλων προβληματισμών που αφορούν τη μακροπρόθεσμη βιωσιμότητά τους. Αρχικά, θα εξεταστεί ο τρόπος δημιουργίας τους, αλλά και τα στοιχεία που χαρακτηρίζουν τη λειτουργία και την οργάνωσή τους, μέσα από προσωπικές συνεντεύξεις καλλιτεχνών που διαχειρίζονται καλλιτεχνικούς χώρους στην Κύπρο.
Η λειτουργική χρήση του πολιτισμού έχει ως στόχο την ενδυνάμωση της τοπικής περιφέρειας/πόλης, μέσα από το λεγόμενο όρο culture-led urban generation δηλαδή αναζωογόνηση και ανάπτυξη της πόλης μέσω του πολιτισμού,
Ένα από τα βασικά ερωτήματα που θα απασχολήσουν τη πτυχιακή διατριβή είναι αν οι χώροι αυτοί μπορούν να αποτελέσουν παράγοντα ανάπτυξης του πολιτισμού της καλλιτεχνικής και ευρύτερης κοινότητας, αλλά και τι κίνδυνοι και εμπόδια μπορούν να προκύψουν μέσα από αυτή την δράση. | el_GR |

Artist-run spaces are currently an inextricable part of the cultural landscape, both internationally and in Cyprus. Recent years have seen the thriving of several independent artist spaces in Nicosia. Owing to this fact, the thesis will explore issues, such as those mentioned before, which have not yet been discussed in Greek-speaking bibliography, such as the influence of artist-run spaces on communities.
The dissertation concentrates on the study of artist-run spaces. More specifically, it will deal with spaces created over the last few years in Cyprus. It aims at examining the advantages of these organisations, as well as other concerns regarding their long-term viability. Initially, we will examine the way they were created and also the features characterising their operation and organisation, through personal interviews with artists managing artist-run spaces in Cyprus.
The functional use of culture is aimed at strengthening the local periphery/city, via the so-called term “culture-led urban generation”, i.e. the rejuvenation and growth of the city through culture (UNDP 2013).
One of the basic questions that this thesis will address is whether these spaces can constitute a growth factor in culture and the artistic and general community but also the risks and difficulties that arise through these spaces. | el_GR |
