| dc.description.abstract | Η εργασία που ακολουθεί είναι μια μελέτη για το έργο της εκπαιδευτικού και συγγραφέα κυρίως παιδικών και νεανικών θεατρικών έργων, Βασιλικής Φωτίου. Η διατριβή θα διεξέλθει τα έργα της συγγραφέως και τη θεματολογία τους, αλλά και θα διερευνήσει πώς αυτά τα έργα μπορούν να αξιοποιηθούν στην εκπαίδευση. Μέσα από τις δραματουργικές αναλύσεις των έργων της, γίνεται κατανοητό το πώς αυτά μπορούν να εξυπηρετήσουν τον εκπαιδευτικό για να τα προσεγγίσει με θεατρικότητα μέσα στην τάξη. Έργα που μιλούν για το περιβάλλον, τον πόλεμο, την αποξένωση των ανθρώπων από την κοινωνία και την παράδοση, την αστυφιλία και πολλά κοινωνικά προβλήματα όπως ο ρατσισμός, αλλά και έργα που τοποθετούνται κυρίως στην κυπριακή ύπαιθρο μιας προηγούμενης εποχής, μπορούν πολύ εύκολα να βοηθήσουν τους εκπαιδευτικούς να μεταφέρουν στους μαθητές τους χρήσιμα μηνύματα. Προτείνεται παράλληλα ο τρόπος με τον οποίο μπορεί να γίνει αυτό, είτε με τη μορφή του «θεάτρου φόρουμ», είτε με τη συμμετοχή των μαθητών ως ηθοποιών σε ένα ανέβασμα θεατρικού της Φωτίου, είτε ως επιπρόσθετο εργαλείο για τις διάφορες ενότητες του σχολικού έτους (Boal 1979: 139 – 142). Το βιογραφικό σημείωμα της συγγραφέως και η ιστορική αναδρομή στο κυπριακό παιδικό και νεανικό θέατρο θα φωτίσουν τον αναγνώστη να κατανοήσει το πλαίσιο στο οποίο δημιουργούσε και δημιουργεί ακόμα η Βασιλική Φωτίου. Η θεματολογία που επιλέγει και η σκιαγράφηση των χαρακτήρων των έργων της, είναι αλληλένδετα κομμάτια του πλαισίου αυτού και των αναγκών της κάθε εποχής. Η συνέντευξη με τη συγγραφέα βοηθά στο να αντιληφθούμε τον χαρακτήρα και τη δοτικότητά της αλλά και το γιατί επέλεξε ως μέσο έκφρασης το θέατρο. Μέσα από τη συζήτηση μαζί της θα κατανοήσει ο αναγνώστης το πόσο ζωτικής σημασίας θεωρεί το θέατρο η Βασιλική Φωτίου και το πόσο μπορεί αυτό να βοηθήσει τους μαθητές να μάθουν μέσα από ευχάριστο τρόπο. Όλα αυτά έρχονται να τα ενισχύσουν άρθρα και ομιλίες για το έργο της από άλλους αξιόλογους συνεργάτες της. Σημαντικό κομμάτι της εργασίας είναι η απήχηση που είχαν και έχουν τα έργα της, κυρίως στην Κύπρο αλλά και στην Ελλάδα. Στη διατριβή γίνεται εκτενής αναφορά στα διάφορα ανεβάσματα των έργων της. O αναγνώστης μπορεί να

εντοπίσει τα έργα που έτυχαν μεγαλύτερης απήχησης και επιλέχτηκαν από
σχολεία στα πλαίσια των παραστάσεων, από ερασιτεχνικές ομάδες ή από
επαγγελματικούς θιάσους. Θεωρώ σημαντική την έρευνα αυτή για τη
συγκεκριμένη συγγραφέα, που κατά τη γνώμη μου πρόσφερε και προσφέρει
πολλά στο κυπριακό παιδικό και νεανικό θέατρο και που έπρεπε όλα αυτά τα
στοιχεία να συγκεντρωθούν σε μια μελέτη. | el_GR |

| dc.description.translatedabstract | The following essay is a research on the work of the educator and writer of
mostly children’s and youth theatre plays, Vasiliki Fotiou. Through this
dissertation, the reader may read about the playwright’s work, the themes she
chooses as well as how her plays may be employed in educational settings.
Through dramaturgical analyses of her plays, it is clarified how these can assist
educators as they approach them with theatricality in the classroom. Some plays
are based on the environment, war, alienation of humans from society and
tradition, urbanization and other social issues such as racism and other plays are
placed mostly in the Cypriot rural life of a past era; all of them may very easily
help educators transmit to their students useful messages. A manner in which to
achieve this is also suggested in the following essay, either through the use of
“Forum Theatre” or with the participation of students as actors in the production
of a play by Fotiou, or even as a complimentary tool for various modules in the
teaching curriculum.
The biographical note of the playwright as well as a historical overview of the
children’s and youth theatre help the reader understand the framework in which
Vasiliki Fotiou created and still creates her work. The themes she chooses and
the outlining of the characters in her plays are interconnected pieces in this
framework and the needs of each time period. The interview with the playwright
herself assists in the appreciation of her character and giving nature as well as
the reasons why she chose theatre as her means of communication. Through this
recorded discussion with her the reader will understand how vitally important
Vasiliki Fotiou considers theatre to be and how it can help students learn in a
pleasant manner. All these elements are reinforced in this essay by articles and
studies on her work from her distinguished collaborators.
An important element of this essay is the wide reception that her plays had and
still have, particularly in Cyprus and in Greece. In this dissertation an extensive
reference to various productions of her plays is made. The reader may locate the
plays with the broader reception and those which were chosen by various
schools in the context of the Pancyprian School Theatre Competition or from
amateur or even professional theatre groups. I consider this research on this
particular individual important, as in my opinion she has offered and still offers a
lot in the Cypriot children’s and youth theatre and all these elements regarding
her work required a collective analysis through a study. | el_GR |
