Since late 2007, the global community has been facing a large-volume financial crisis, which first broke out in the United States focusing on bank bad debts, in particular the inability to service the mortgage loans. The financial crisis has rapidly expanded in the developed countries and then worldwide, with dramatic effects on the banking system and businesses. Greece resorted to borrowing from the IMF, as it has been revealed, the huge budget deficit lead it to its inability to exit to the international markets. The rising unemployment and unequal payments’ cut subsequently has driven to mergers or shutdown of many businesses. Stricter supervisory measures, imposed in the banking sector, emerge through the three Basel accords. In Greece, the crisis has led to a new state for the country and the banking system. The crisis can be addressed with collective effort and the necessary reforms.el_GR
