This e-book is the product of collaboration between the Open University of Cyprus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The University and the Ministry came together in an effort to design and to implement an introductory course on the History of Cyprus addressed primarily to Greek Cypriot expatriates. To that end, a group of leading experts on the field of ancient, medieval and modern history of Cyprus wrote specially-commissioned chapters, organized according to the principles and methodologies of Open and Distance Adult Learning, by means of which the course would be delivered. The course aimed at a comprehensive overview of all phases of Cypriot history, but its main emphasis is the period 1878-2004.
